Changing Season

Autumn is upon us as September brings in the changing season.  September is a month of gentle reset and the golden bridge between the sun-warmed ease of summer and the crisp focus of autumn. It’s the season of fresh starts, new routines and a touch of indulgence as we swap sandals for boots and iced lattes for spiced teas. In wellness, it’s about rebalancing after summer’s freedoms, leaning into nourishing foods and grounding rituals. Lifestyle brings a renewed sense of structure, with cultural calendars filling up and fashion turning towards layers and texture. And what’s new? September invites us to embrace change with confidence. From skincare updates to seasonal trends,  it’s a month that feels like a second new year.

The Gilded Queen

September is the dream month for walking.  With warm days, cooler evenings, and landscapes that glow in softer light, it’s the ideal time to explore: From the wild beauty of the Scottish Highlands to sun-dappled trails in Italy, the French Pyrenees, or the rolling hills of Tuscany. It’s a season for suede jackets, leisurely steps, and the quiet luxury of the open air.

What’s On

LONDON: It’s the most wonderful time of year, when all manner of events are on around the capital.

London buildings and structures, usually off-limits to the public, open their doors. including livery halls, City churches, Senate House, the Guildhall, Temple Bar and Royal Courts of Justice.

There’s plenty of culture within our capital. The iconic V & A is running the Cartier exhibition until 16th November and this month the much anticipated Marie Antoinette Style exhibition is opening.  Whilst at the Tate Modern to mark the centenary of Pablo Picasso’s painting, The Three Dancers, his works are in the spotlight, particularly his fascination with performers.

The Chelsea Arts Fair looks set to host an array of talks, performances and other entertainments over four days from 18th – 21st September. whilst the V & A East Storehouse opens on 11th September with a museum dedicated to the late David Bowie.

Notorious for her for excess and frivolity, Marie Antoinette has captured the imagination and inspired fashion since her execution 230 years ago. Marie Antoinette Style will be unveiled at the V & A fro 20th September and will run until 22nd March, 2026.  Visitors will be able to explore how and why Marie Antoinette came to be seen as both a complex figure, and the most fashionable queen in history.

Marie Antoinette Style opens at the V&A South Kensington in London on 20 September 2025 and runs until 22 March 2026

TGQ found herself at The Pelican in Notting Hill for Sunday lunch. The Pelican is a testament to how beautiful interiors serve as a backdrop for sensational food. The mood is a minimalist approach to a Georgian coaching inn; log fire, crammed tables of pared back woods blending perfectly with leather chairs, plastered walls, mirrors and flagstones.

Not before cooking up inspiration by beetroot, this month’s versatile root vegetable.

The Gilded Queen

Beetroots, with their deep crimson colour and earthy sweetness, are a humble root that truly comes into their own during the autumn months. It’s this time of year when the earth’s produce feels more comforting, and heartier; perfect for the colder days ahead.
